Need help with a paper?

Sometimes you just can't figure out where to put that comma, or remember how to cite a journal article with more than 2 authors. You might even be having some trouble just getting your paper started. The resources listed below should be able to help you with any research paper related problems.

Writing Center

Writing Center picture The Center provides UT students free, individualized help on all written assignments. For each session in the Center, you will be paired with a trained tutor (a graduate student or instructor from the English Department). He or she will help you brainstorm ideas, structure your paper, or polish the final draft among other things. However, he or she won't proofread or edit your work. Instead he or she will offer you constructive feedback intended to help you become more comfortable with writing while improving your writing skills.

Help with Research

Writing Center pictureNot sure where to start research? Need help finding articles? Librarians offer a variety of services designed to help individuals access information resources and use them effectively. Assistance may range from locating a needed fact or specific source to designing a search strategy for retrieving information on a broad topic. Get help in person, by phone, email, or live chat. For assistance or more information, visit the Reference or Commons desk today!

Style Manuals

As you write your paper, you may need to consult a style manual on how to create a works cited page or cite a quotation in the text. The library has a website with online references for most citation styles such as APA or MLA. However, please remember these are not complete style manuals, and you should consult the actual manual for further information.
