Academic Success workshop
If you have been placed on Academic Probation status, you may be required to complete an Academic Success Workshop. The 90-minute workshop will help you improve your academic performance (and prevent academic dismissal) at the University of Tennessee. Personalized to your own academic situation, the workshop will address:
- the University’s academic probation and dismissal policies;
- the impact of your GPA upon your plans for career and major, including standards for performance in your specific college;
- the impact of your GPA upon your financial aid eligibility;
- calculating GPA’s and setting goals for the grades you need to earn this semester;
- the ways in which the University’s policy for repeating courses can possibly boost your GPA;
- pitfalls to avoid when repeating courses or taking courses at another college or university;
- factors which may have contributed to your previous academic difficulties;
- effective learning strategies, fortifying your present abilities as a student;
- and easy access to the wealth of University resources that are available to assist you.
You will develop a personal action plan for your academic success in preparation for your Academic Probation appointment with your academic advisor.
To jumpstart your return to Good Standing, it is critical that you attend a workshop as soon as possible. Workshops are offered at a variety of dates and times. Space in each workshop is limited to 20 students, so register now!
